- Mutawintji’s historic site, with the most important rock art, can usually only be visited on a guided tour; check current arrangements.
- Unsealed roads: many hire cars cannot be driven on them; check your contract.
- Heat: from November to March, temperatures can be extreme. Plan early starts.
- Time zone: remember Broken Hill runs half an hour behind Sydney when booking.
