Getting to Blue Mountains

Trains from Sydney’s Central Station run along the ridge to Katoomba in about two hours.

The Blue Mountains Line runs from Central Station through all the main towns, roughly hourly, on the same Opal fares as Sydney’s suburban trains. By car, the Great Western Highway climbs the ridge.

Getting around the mountains

Trains link the towns along the ridge every hour or so. In Katoomba and Leura, a hop-on hop-off bus links the station, Echo Point, Scenic World and other sights. Local buses run less often. Many lookouts are connected by walking tracks. For Jenolan Caves and the more remote lookouts, you need a car or a tour.

Onward

Continue west to Orange and Mudgee, or back to Sydney. See the NSW transport guide for the wider network.
